New Year…what a week…

New Year Post

Here we are in 2021 and what a year it’s already been….sadly it looks like we’re in for a bumpy one if that last week has been anything to go by

As a bit of a recap my practice took a change about 5 years ago, slowly realised that it needed a new home, so I set up Urgent Temporality as that place.

Using what’s happened this week to show in the way I think and write about things for instance my old practice would have mentioned about the America situation and how I photographed similar and how you’d report on that situation. Whereas UT would look at a response to those images, examine the images add in more thought and possibly look at a response or use the image making part of the work into a written, taught or similar outcome.

Little confusing?

I’m currently trying to classify this more so it’s not quite as confusing as the above but still needs working on, it’s just coming up to its first birthday, so we are still mastering the subtleties of the practice.

I guess that I should add in what I’m working on at the moment I’m currently in the process of making the borders project into a publication and see what that looks like, thinking about my PhD title which is a little harder when you have all the options open so working on that takes up a fair bit of time and looking at the next projects one will be an fashion internet response thing that no one will see and hopefully making some work that people will see too including this blog. As with previous endeavours the same but different I’m looking at making this a weekly or bi-weekly blog to help focus thoughts, improve work (prospects esp) and hone the practice a little more each time, you’re welcome to join me on this journey and let me know what you think

Urgent Temporality Image 1

Made an image too, with the idea of making an image that sums up UT as a visual guide which could be interesting as the weeks go on as I’m sure some will be more successful than others, important to make some sort of imagery when we can, even if it doesn’t work then maybe it’ll show a reason so in the end it did work as a signpost. (*realises teacher hat is still on* *takes off* )

So with the world going the way it is I think it’s important to be kind, be there and be there when we can. Take time to reflect and think.

Thank you.
